Cosplaying for fun and profit . . . or just humiliation [rp with cypsiman2]
((I GET SHIT DONE EVENTUALLY, YEAH? Anyway . . . cuz this is up several days later than I'd said, have a piccie first as a consolation prize ^_^))

Anzu had been working for Mutou-Grandfather at the Kame for a few weeks now. Sometimes, she and Yugi had worked together, many times not. He couldn't afford to pay two employees, even part-time, overly much, so usually one of them was working with him while the other was off. But when he could, he scheduled the two of them together. It gave himself a nice break . . . and the two youngsters some much needed "together" time.
This afternoon, Anzu came over to the shop, expecting for both of them to be off-work because they had a project for school to work on . . . only to find the sole occupant of the shop to be Grandpa Mutou.

Down the way and around a corner on a busier street, Yugi put on a grin for everyone, but frankly? He looked like a fool. Or anyway, he felt like one. The costume really had been meant for someone at least a foot taller. And it itched - some of the seams weren't properly sewn. They were more like . . . glued, which made the edges of the fabric stiff and scratchy and scraped or dug at his skin here and there.
He loved Dark Magician. He really, really did!
But . . . not right now.

"Well," he said with a chuckle, "I suppose that's what I get for getting the cheep fabric!" He gave Yuugi and Anzu a firm supportive pat on the back. "Come on you crazy kids, come inside, I've got a special on cards and game books that might just cheer you two up."

As he hastily tore off - okay, not really, no more damage, but still - the costume and tossed it aside to replace with proper jeans and t-shirt, Yami chided him.
[Aibou, is it really such a big deal? As I see it, it's really no worse than when you took her to that amusement park last summer. You both put on swimsuits and did the water slide, remember?]
"Yes, but I wasn't doing the water slide in my UNDERWEAR!"
Only once he was properly dressed did he make himself go back down the stairs once more, his face only a half-step or so less crimson. But he was clothed. In real clothes.

"No, Grandpa Mutou," Anzu said, waving her hands in front of him, "You don't have to do that, and besides, like I've been telling you, Yuugi and I need to work on our project as soon as we can anyway! Yep, there's just no two ways about it, we're just going to have to politely turn you down."

Anzu...was silent. Very, very, silent.
Snowplowing my Inbox finding lost treasures again....TT~TT
He didn't remember passing out in his bedroom, but he was suddenly pretty sure he was dreaming at the moment.
Yami's tone was wry in the back of his mind. [No, Aibou, you're not dreaming.]
Yugi snuck a glance at Anzu, who seemed frozen. In horror, probably. She just doesn't want to say anything and hurt my feelings. After all, she'd been clinging to the need to work on their project like a lifeline, trying to get out of it. Hadn't she?
[Test it, Aibou...]
Swallowing hard - it sounded like a heavenly way to spend the evening to him! - he decided to d-do that. "I-I'd...really like that, a-actually . . . b-but we really do need to get that project worked on." He hoped he didn't sound too eager at the first part or disappointed at the second.
He really hoped he wasn't blushing as hard as he felt like he was!

"Well, I'll have to call in a few favors," the old man said in an amused tone, "but I think that's something I'll be able to manage. Now go on, get to work on that 'oh so important' project of yours!" Suddenly, a ringing at the door. "And besides which, I have customers it seems!"

No . . . Anzu wasn't that kind of person. She would have just not brought up rescheduling at all if that were the case.
R-right?
"Right! Project! C'mon, Anzu!" Was he grinning like a loon? And did he really care? Without thinking about it, he snagged Anzu's wrist and headed for the stairs, calling over his shoulder, "Thanks, Grandpa!"

OOC
I don't have any particular ideas for the project. It'd be kinda cute to see how they handle each other, knowing they have a date coming up, but either's fine with me.
