Just posted a little bit ago on my main R/L account dragondancer101. Basically said I have a belated New Year's Resolution to try to post /something/ everyday, either there or here or both. I'd also said I was gonna get back to work . . . except I can't. >,<;;; I've been futzing around all day so far with other odds-and-ends things that /do/ need to get done, too, but I can't access the company server . . . so I can't do some 90% of my job. Just called John up in NY at our Tonawanda office. He's restarting it to see if that will solve the problem. REBOOT seems to be the #1 answer to all computer problems. Heh.
Anyway, in the meantime, I've been wanting to share an AWESOME compliment I was paid recently. I'm doing so here, rather than in my r/l journal cuz it's directly YGO related. *sheepish grin* I have a new fic I've been working on. Car accident, Yugi /badly/ injured and unconscious, the Puzzle removed so that the medical personnel can work, Yami trapped in his soul room. That's the gist of the beginning anyway. The first three chapters have gone out to my beta's and come back - well, only /just/ sent out the rewrite of Chapter 2 last night, but 1 & 3 are basically done.
PharaonicWolf doesn't have an LJ account that I'm aware of. Met her through FFnet as a reviewer. Her reviews were so intelligent and helpful, I asked her to beta for me, and she's been FABULOUS. Anyway . . . Chp 3 of the new fic focuses on Yami and what's going through his mind as he's completely cut off from the outside world.
PW - "Wow. I'm always really impressed by the way you write Yami. You've got a great handle on his character - both the good (protective) and the bad (vengeful) sides."
Here's the passage she was most directly referring to, though that's also the whole chapter:
Yami dropped his head back against the door, ignoring the pain of the contact. How he wished he could escape this prison and deal with the situation – if not to help in the care, then at least to find the perpetrator who had harmed his aibou and make him pay, as once the ancient spirit of vengeance had done so many times in his none-too-distant past.
There’s been an accident . . .
Yami groaned. He could not. It went beyond the reality that Yami needed Yugi to be able to escape, that physical contact between the Puzzle and his Fate-chosen partner was the only key to unlock that door. The fact was that there existed no basis for retribution, no matter how much it would make him feel better for it to be otherwise. He had seen the truth in Honda’s eyes – there was no enemy to fight this time, no one to blame, no one to make pay to right this wrong to his aibou and himself. Were he even to try, Yami already knew that the Shadows would turn on him, that he would be the one ultimately punished for a wrong committed against another. He swallowed, the very thought sending a cold shiver down his spine. No . . . no, he of all people knew better than to tempt that fate.
Heh . . . just had to share. *sheepish grin* GAH I love Yami!
*skitters off to putz around her office some more, waiting for a phone call back from John*
