puzzlemasters: (Yugi - Huh?)
[personal profile] puzzlemasters
Yugi was doing his best to keep up, but really Jonouchi and Honda had such long legs!  It didn't help that they were excited on top of that, making them practically jog toward their destination - a relatively new . . . well, they had it pegged for a fitness center of some kind.  None of the three really knew all that much about it.  Though a name like "The Well-Toned Thigh" certainly brought any number of mental images to mind, most of which made Yugi blush.

It didn't help anything either that, in the back of his mind, his other self Yami was equal parts curious himself and sure that their friends were diving into yet another ill-conceived bit of trouble.  Yami loved Jonouchi and Honda just as much as Yugi did . . . but they both also knew how . . . um . . . carnal? their friends could be.  They could turn anything - even a trip to a health center - into something, um, more interesting.

They rounded a corner on the street and their destination came into view.  Well, for better or worse, Yugi figured he was about to find out just what was in store...

"Another day, another ten thousand yen." Anzu said with a sigh as her day at "The Well Tone Thigh" continued on. STill, it was a lot better then she would have expected, and the money was really, really good. Of course, the guys wouldn't understand, and she learned what happened when you told those guys to NOT go to a place, so this time she just simply didn't mention it to them. So far it seemed to be working.

Then the door opened, and she saw to her horror who the next three customers were going to be.

(ooc: low lighting, cheesy music, BBQ wings everywhere, and Anzu in a uniform reminiscent of her Burger World one, but not quite so conservative. Signs adorn the walls, full of what the owner THINKS are clever play-on-words, but really they're just crass. Example: "Be sure to tip your waitress...where it counts!" Oh, and also? The tables are oddly low-set, which means that Anzu has to lean over to serve anyone. Yeah, I'm going to stop here before I go too far, if I haven't already done that.)

The three teens were finally allowed to enter . . . after a guy at the front door made Yugi prove he was as old as he said he was by showing his school ID. Geez, what kind of a health club had an age requirement? But then, Yugi got a look around the main room.

...guh.

[I'm guessing this is not a fitness club], Yami murmured wryly in the back of his mind after a faint pause of his own.

Yugi glanced up at Jou and Honda, whose own shock rapidly morphed into twin GRINS of lewd delight and amusement . . . until they spotted a familiar face.

Three - well, no, make that four - jaws hit the ground, almost literally.

Anzu was frozen in shock, and while she desperately wanted to cover up, she had no idea where to even begin; the shorts were as short-shorts, and the shirt was too tight for her to button all the way down. And unfortunately, the only wall was in the employee bathroom, and she'd just gotten out of there so its not like she could escape back there right away.

"What. Are. You. Doing. Here?" She said in a determined whisper, hoping that only Yuugi, Jounouchi, and Honda would hear it; her boss would definitely dock her if she drove away customers.
From: [identity profile] puzzlemasters.livejournal.com
Jou and Honda took a moment to find their voices. There were any number of ways they could have responded to the question and the situation in general . . . though most of them would get them both pummeled, if not immediately, then later. As a result, neither one managed to answer the question right away.

He'd never have managed it were it for himself, but with his friends to consider - all of them - Yugi found his voice first, jumping between the other two boys and snagging each by the elbow. "S-sorry! Our mistake, An-.....ah, m-miss! We . . . t-thought this was a-a fitness center o-or something. W-we'll be going now!" He hauled back on both the guys, yanking them back toward the entrance as he tried to ignore the HEAT in his face.

Thankfully, the other two took the cue. Really, Anzu was their friend and they hadn't come here to gawk and flirt with her . . . nor did either of them want to get her in trouble. Or themselves in trouble with her.

"Ah . . . y-yeah! Our mistake! Later!"

(ooc: heh....if they /do/ wind up leaving, no big. Yugi will come back later to check on her, try to catch her at the end of her shift as she's leaving or something. ^_^)

(ooc: unfortunately, I am cruel and will not let my darlings off that easily!)

Anzu sighed, thankful that Yuugi was able to keep his head straight in this situation, unlike the others...and then she heard her boss coming in right behind her.

"Gentleman!" The portly fellow called out, BBQ sauce all over his fingers; he really did seem like the kind of jovial guy you'd like to hang out with, until you actually met him. "Serendipity! You came looking for a fitness center, but you found something much better!" He paused to look down at Yuugi, but simply shrugged as he moved with surprising swiftness behind them, blocking the door. "Anyway, take a seat, and Anzu-buns will be along to take your order shortly!"

"Kill me now." Anzu said to herself below a whisper.

"Anzu-buns?!" Jou and Honda gaped at each other, managing at least to keep their shocked chorus of a reaction to a dull gasp. On the one hand, they wanted to have fun with this, they desperately wanted to, but friendship - and a sense of self-preservation - held their teenaged immaturity in check. Instead they gave Anzu one brief, rather apologetic glance and nodded, angling for a booth. Still glowing like a one of those outdoor patio heaters, Yugi shuffled along behind them, shoulders hunched and head ducked.

Anzu's ears were burning, not just because of the boss's nickname for her, but because it was actually relatively tame for him! She guessed he must have been testing the waters with that one, not wanting to come off too strong to potential new customers. Which was why the muscle outside made sure that no one left until AFTER they were served. Sighing, Anzu retrieved the menus, and blanched at the names of the entrees; honestly, was there anything about this place that was clean, aside from the money? "Remember the money Anzu, remember New York."

With that little mantra that kept her going, Anzu brought the menus over to the guys. Of course, considering how low-set the tables were, she was going to have to bite the bullet and hope that she could hand them over without leaning over too long. "Welcome to The Well Toned Thigh, almost as good as mine!" She said with a hidden inner shudder. "And how many wings would you like me to shake your way?"

Jou could barely believe the words that came out of Anzu's mouth. That didn't sound like her at all! And he started to tell her as much . . . until Honda's foot whacking his shin under the table aborted the observation. Oh, right. Probably not such a good idea to state that aloud. Still, he couldn't help . . . gaping at her. Just a little! Jou had never really thought about it but . . . she really did have an awesome bod now that he looked at her. Not that he was looking at her that way. After all, she was Yugi's girl. Mostly. If either one of them would ever actually get up enough nerve to say something to the other. "S'long as they don't come drenched in ketchup," he finally managed to comment, not loud enough for anyone beyond the table to hear.

Honda relaxed. Just a little. Jou wasn't going to be a complete moron, though that didn't mean any of them would manage to get out of this place unscathed. Dammit, he should have known something like this was going to happen! Resolutely looking Anzu in the eye - And. No. Lower! - he choked out a soft, "N-none, thanks."

Yugi squirmed a bit in the corner. At least Jou had had enough presence of mind to shield his best friend, whether or not it was going to prove necessary. He could practically see the reflection of his own blush on the surface of the table! And the worst part of all this?!

H-he . . . really . . . liked the uniform on Anzu.

Yami, for his part, was wisely staying out of things. For now.

"All right boys," Anzu said, feeling that bit of bile as she performed her act, "I'll be back with your wings in two shakes of my tail!" God, the lines were just so damn cheesy! Fortunately the bosses eyes weren't on her at the moment, so she didn't actually shake anything as she retreated to the kitchen to get the wings.

"Damn Anzu-buns, you're really playing it up for the blond, aren't you?" And there he was, having just gotten away from another employee, another point in favor of the theory that he'd made her his 'favorite' for all the horror that was worth. As such, she didn't even really hear what he was saying. "Now remember, when they're making their orders, make sure they get a good look at the famous Mazaki Mamms, get them real good and hungry if you know what I mean!" The boss said with a guffaw, and Anzu just barely managed to play along.

And out of the corner of her eye, she could see Yuugi blanching at the menu; poor Yuugi, he was way too innocent for this place!

At least . . . it got the BLUSH off his cheeks! But as Yugi stared at the menu, even the hamburgers didn't sound good. N-not . . . not described like . . . like THAT! He sank another three inches lower in his seat.

Jou glanced over at the movement and frowned a bit. He wasn't sure which was worse, getting Anzu all mortified and pissed off at them (again), or Yugi having to sit here in this place. This was no place for Yugi. Him and Honda, no problem! Well, except for the Anzu-being-here part. But not Yugi.

And what the hell WAS Anzu doing in a place like this?! Seriously! This was NO place for a girl like her! Jou watched her walk from the table and caught a glimpse of the guy he guessed to be her boss. Man, don't tell him this was gonna be another Burger World. Although, havin' a gun-totin' escaped prisoner might not be a bad thing by comparison, he added mentally, cutting another glance at Yugi, or rather, at the Puzzle. Crap, I really Yami ain't aware of things. Oh, who'm I kiddin'? He's GOT to know what Yug's thinkin'! Yami, ol' buddy, do us all a favor - DON"T call a Shadow Game here, okay?

Yami didn't know the full sweep of what was going on - Yugi had slammed his mental door too fast, the one that normally allowed Yami limited perception through his senses without having to take possession of the body. He'd gotten a glimpse of the place they were in, and he knew that Anzu was here . . . in an unfavorable position. Nothing threatening, nothing that required his attention - or so Yugi kept assuring him - but . . . Yami could feel everyone's tension. Not just Yugi's, but Jou's and Honda's as well - hell, even Anzu's, more distantly at the moment - on threads of connection tangled through the energies of the Puzzle and thrumming across his soul room. He would abide by his aibou's wishes, of course, but should anything change, anything at all...

Anzu dropped the tray of wings on the table, and placed her hands on the table in an effort to project some power into the posture obligated by her position. She had to be short, and to the point; things were very delicate, and she could not afford to lose the job before she got the money she needed, or else she'd have gone through all this for nothing!

"Guys, I know this place sucks, but if you do anything to jeopardize my job here, I'll never forgive you; this is the only way to get the money I need..." At which point she noticed her boss once more out of the corner of her eye, and so she lifted her hands and pulled out her pad of paper and pen for taking orders. "And so how much juicy meat would you guys like to sink your jaws into?" She took a quick look at her boss, who unfortunately waved her on, prompting her to shake her chest a little. "And I'll bet you guys give HUGE tips, am I right?"

Truly, if Anzu did not make it as a dancer, she could certainly make it as a master thespian with that kind of performance.

All three boys jumped as the tray was dropped, even though Anzu didn't actually slam it like she'd done the tray of burgers the last time. Jou, for one, counted that as a Good Thing, but then she leaned over and it was all he could do to yank his eyes to the ceiling. Oh, look, florescent lights. What a novel idea! ...help?

"Not on purpose," Honda murmured in response to Anzu's first comment, his eyes locked on the unwanted wings. He couldn't make any promises, though, especially not with that slimeball in the corner. That had to be the reason for Anzu's abrupt change of tone, too.

Jou pulled his eyes back down to Anzu's, and the serious look was the same as the one he'd given her the first time. "Yeah, Anzu . . . we'll be giving huge tips. Don't worry," he assured her, his tone devoid of innuendo. He glanced around the table and got a nod of agreement from Honda, and from Yugi...

Yugi finally raised his head, the blush blossoming across his cheeks again as he got another look at her, but his eyes on hers as he asked, "Why didn't you come to the Kame? You know me and Grandpa would be more than willing to help out. And it'd be a legitimate job, not a charity..."

Anzu sighed as she straightened up and stretched her back; embarrassment could wait till later, right now her back was killing her! "Yugi, I just...I really want to do this on my own and besides...there's other factors too." She really didn't want to go into all the awkwardness that would come from being working at the game shop, how one little blurt on her part could wreck her friendship with Yuugi.

Still, a quick glance back to the boss confirmed that she was going to have to repeat the orders back to the guys. May as well get it over with, she thought to herself. "So, that'll be the 'Legs Up To There' for you," she said as she pointed to Jounouchi, not wanting to give the boss even the slightest hint that they all knew each other, "You'll have the 'Thick, Thick Thighs'," she said to Honda, and now came the...well, the hard part. "And you'll be having the 'Breasts Out To There'?"

As Yugi nodded, his face a sheer crimson, Anzu really felt sorry for him, and swore that half of todays paycheck was going to go to a gift for him. Even if that did set her back half a day, she thought with a sigh.
From: [identity profile] dragondancer515.livejournal.com
I don't want breasts out to anywhere! Yugi thought in alarm. Then he realized it was probably one of the menu items. Was she choosing their orders for them? He glanced down at the menu, gaze barely skimming. Yeah, looked like it. Actually . . . y-yeah, chicken sounded like a good idea at this point. "Y-yes, thank you," he managed to stammer out. He glanced at Jou and Honda and saw that they too were just rolling with it, nodding at the choices she'd made for them. It wasn't like any of them had actually looked at the menus yet.

Yami, for his part, wasn't sure if he should be sympathetic . . . or just amused by the whole affair. Aibou had finally stuffed down enough on his mortification to share a little more of the details of the current situation, though he still wouldn't let the spirit see directly how Anzu (or any of the other waitresses) were dressed. For someone who had spent pretty much all of his remembered existence fighting enemies of one caliber or degree of threat or another, he had a really hard time relating to the possible gravity of this situation. (The fact that he was completely missing the sexual innuendos and the female degradation wasn't helping.)

Anzu delivered the order to the cook, and took the opportunity to rest her feet; the uniform featured its own brand of uncomfortable shoes that forced a rather 'emphasizing' posture upon those who wore them. Still, there really was nothing to be done about it; nothing short of a crazed gunman getting set on fire by Yami was going to push her off this path. After all, Yugi and Jounouchi and Honda and Otogi...all of them had gone through hell and high water to get what they wanted, so why couldn't she endure an insufferably sexist work environment to get the money she needed to fulfill her dreams?

"Here you go!" Her boss said as he shoved three plates full of greasy chicken into her arms. "And remember, shake what your mama gave you, and blond will be sure to tip you everything he's got, Anzu-buns!"

Anzu would have endured that. She would have stayed on, if that was as bad as it could get, all that happening in plain view of her friends. Then he gave what must have been in his mind a supportive pat-and-squeeze on the rear.

All hell broke loose.

OOC: LOL I take it you want Jou or Honda to notice and make a fuss . . . which of course will get Yugi's attention (he wouldn't have been looking atm) and . . . heh, possibly Yami's? XD

I got started kinda late, so I didn't get /too/ far. Went back through parts of Kanji's dungeon to get a few last items I needed to complete a couple of side quests, spent another day or two doing a few other things, then FINALLY tackled Rise's dungeon and got through the first three levels before finally having to call it a night. And yeah, I think Jou and Honda would be hard pressed to miss what Anzu is doing now; she is very sensitive about her rear, and if you touch it when she didn't tell you to, she can't be held responsible for her actions.)

Jou and Honda both flinched in unison at the outburst, and Honda reached across the table to put a hand on Jou's chest to keep him from jumping up to the rescue. Yugi, on the other hand - his head snapped up and he was up on a knee on the bench to see around Jou in the next instant.

"What did he do to her?" There was just enough of a growl to the voice that both Jou and Honda wondered for an instant if it was Yugi or Yami speaking. Other subtle clues said that it was in fact Yugi still in control.

Jou was mad, but he swallowed that down, not wanting to upset Yugi unnecessarily. "Just a light swat on the ass. Nothin' that bad, really - "

"Not by itself," Honda pointed out, meaning it was "that bad" when taken on top of everything else.

Jou nodded. "But you know how Anzu is." And part of that was the fact that she might pound all three of them - or hell, four; she might even pound Yami if she was mad enough - for interfering if she didn't want to be rescued.

The three watched for just an instant more, though they were certainly ready to interfere - threat of a beating or not - if the bastard so much as touched her again.

In his soul room, Yami paced a bit while trying not to. With an alarming slam, he'd suddenly gotten the rest of the story from his aibou's subconscious mind - all the things Yami had been missing out of lack of experience and Yugi had been suppressing and ignoring. Yami respected Yugi's feelings for the girl - no one more so! - but Anzu was his friend too . . . and no one - NO ONE - treated his friends so shamefully!

((OOC: btw . . . I can see Yugi relinquishing control to Yami, if not right away then before it's over with, to deal with things if he thinks Yami can do so more /effectively/, but if /you'd/ prefer for Yugi to be the one to do everything, just let me know and I'll be sure to adjust the boys' reasoning and actions to keep with that. XD))

"Ah, Anzu-buns," Her boss said, clearly not having yet learned his lesson, "I should have noticed that you were at that time of the month, my fault entirely...!" The glare Anzu delivered to him was akin to that of a demon, and it silenced him quickly.

"Don't you even dare go there, you hormonally driven, immature man-child! No reasonable person could ever stand to work here, you just pay enough to make it seem like it is! Well, you could pay me one hundred times more than I'm getting now, and it still wouldn't be enough! Newsflash neanderthal, just because I'm serving meat doesn't make ME meat!"

"I...well..." The boss found it difficult to engage in objectifying language, when the object of that language looked like she could kick his head in on the slightest provocation. "I suppose...a few items...could be negotiated..."

"No! There is nothing to negotiate! I quit, I'm taking my clothes, and I'm leaving right now!" Anzu marched off to the employee restroom where her regular clothes were kept, and while she was gone, the other waitresses began to conspire, inspired if you will. Anzu returned swiftly, taking long striding steps as she slammed her feet into the ground.

"No, don't go!" The boss called out, and despite herself Anzu paused, though she did not turn around. "Your Mazaki-Mamms are the star attraction!" If he thought that would be a compliment, Anzu's step back to stomp on his foot proved him wrong. Then she marched up to Yuugi and grabbed his hand.

"Come on, let's get out of here; you've seen way too much already!"

Slightly more appropriate journal LOL

((OOC: Guess that answers that, ne? XD And I've said it before, but I LOVE that icon! GO ANZU))

Go, Anzu! All three boys nearly cheered aloud, only refraining because they still weren't sure if they should actually involve themselves. Anzu certainly seemed to be handling things well enough on her own. They watched her stomp off for the bathroom and stood from the table to join her as she returned.

"Mazaki-Mamms?!" Honda repeated incredulously under his breath. Dude, could this guy GET any lower?!

Yugi's embarrassment had long vanished, leaving only a cold outrage in its place. As Anzu grabbed his hand, he squeezed back. "And you've put up with way too much, Anzu." And then it was him pulling her for the front door.

Jonouchi and Honda fell into step behind them, aiming to put themselves between their two friends and that sorry excuse for a pig. Jou glared at him as he passed. "Even I know better'n that how to treat a lady, you bastard. An' you will be payin' her what she's earned up to this point, or I'll be back here ta beat it outta ya."

"We will." Honda gave the man a cold glare of his own before turning his back and heading for the door.
From: [identity profile] cypsiman2.livejournal.com
After crossing over to the next block, Anzu's raged-driven adrenaline rush left her and she turned to face her friends. "Sorry about that guys; when it's a bunch of strangers I can pretend it doesn't matter, but in front of you guys..." Anzu sighed wistfully, thankful that the warm weather meant her current attire was not attracting too much attention; she wasn't prudish or body shy as a rule, but that was on her terms, not some sexist pig's!

"Personally, I'd just like to get back home and take a long, long shower until I can feel clean again." She looked around herself, "Would you guys mind escorting me until I get home? I know I've already put you all through a lot..."
From: [identity profile] dragondancer515.livejournal.com
Yugi frowned. "But it does matter, Anzu. Strangers wouldn't know that you're not really like that." It really bothered him that people might think poorly of Anzu, for any reason.

"Don't worry about, Anzu," Honda assured her, also responding to the apology, then nodded at the last. "Of course."

Jou waved off the comment. "You ain't put us through anything. Besides, what're friends for, right?" Eyes darkening as he turned serious, he added, "I'm just real glad you're outta there. That's no place for you, you know." The only thing he could think of that would have been worse was if that had been Shizuka in there instead of Anzu. The bastard would have lost both his kneecaps - and been thankful that was all he lost.

"That's no place for any woman," Honda growled, thinking too of his mother and older sister and how he'd had flipped out on the guy if he'd treated one of them like that. Or, gods, Shizuka! Just . . . no.

Yugi wholeheartedly agreed. "No, it's not. But," he added, brightening as he looked up at Anzu, "you handled yourself really well. You should be proud. Heh . . . still, I think Other-Me is still plotting the Shadow Game he would have had summoned on that guy if we hadn't left when we did."

[I am not], Yami asserted, even if it were true . . . subconsciously. Really, he was just trying to let go of the outrage as much as the rest of them.

"Anyway, let's get you home." Yugi didn't take Anzu's hand, as much as he wanted to - he didn't want to be taken as forward or anything - but he did let himself brush her arm with his hand as an subtle indicator to walk again as he turned and resumed heading down the street.
From: [identity profile] cypsiman2.livejournal.com
Anzu nodded at her friends and for the rest of the way home she was silent. She thought about a lot of things, about where it was she was willing to draw the line and why; once more her friendship with Yugi had changed her, and once upon a time she would have convinced herself forever that it didn't matter what anyone thought of her, once she had the money she'd have the last laugh.

Upon reaching her front door, she thanked everyone and said good-bye, taking off inside and rushing for the shower. Fortunately Mom and Dad were still busy at work, so she was able to rid herself of the skimpy uniform promptly and began the laborious task of feeling clean again. Fortunately, one of her little secrets was that she just loved hot showers, and after thirty minutes she'd felt like she'd made some progress.

After that though, she found herself thinking about Yugi's offer; working for Grandpa Sugoroku at the Kame game shop? Well, certainly compared to the slimeball whose foot she just crushed, Yugi's grandpa was an angel. And he'd definitely pay fair, and not force her into some stupid low-cut tightly fitted uniform...and she'd be working right alongside Yugi. Her best friend, for hours at a time. The only other person who had access to such close and constant contact with Yugi was Yami, and he was a spirit that dwelled in the Millennium Puzzle!

Could she handle even half that much contact, day in and day out, without doing something stupid to wreck their friendship? It wasn't impossible, she knew that; her feelings for the boy had been a confused jumble for some time now, but ever since Battle City she thought that she was coming close to a decision. But considering what she knew had to happen, was she just settling for the one that she knew she could have, as opposed to the one she wanted?

Even so, could she afford not to get the money she needed for the dream? She rested on this, and in the morning she decided that if she could bite the bullet once, she could do it again.

She was still caught off guard when she saw Yugi right outside her front door.

"Yugi!"

Yugi startled a bit at Anzu's tone, but then gave her a big grin. "Good morning, Anzu. Thought I'd come get /you/ to walk to school for a change." He hesitated before asking how she was doing, wanting to gauge her a bit first.

"That sounds just fine Yugi." Anzu said with a smile as she looked down into his eyes; they were so big and innocent, it seemed like they were taking her as far as possible away from that place she had no intention of naming. "So," She said as they began to walk, "What did you do after you got home yesterday?"

Yugi shrugged. "Jonouchi had to get to his janitor job at the hospital, so Honda and I hung out playing video games? You?"

He winced as soon as the word came out. Nice going... Not like she probably wants to talk about it, you idiot. He was ready to apologize, but . . . held his tongue to see how Anzu reacted. He knew if he apologized when she didn't think he should have, she'd just thump him on the head or something.

"Well Yugi," Anzu said with a sigh, "I did a lot of thinking. I thought about what I'm willing to put myself through, what I'm willing to do to fulfill my dream...and I thought about the offer you made; if you don't think it'll be too awkward or uncomfortable, I'd like to try working at the kame game store."

((ooc: S'okie - I had to ask two or three times before I started remembering for myself. 9,9 It's a person down on hands and knees. orz means the same thing. First letter is a head, bowed. Second letter is arms, hands on ground, and body [and neck in the case of the T]. Third letter is hips/knees/shins. ^_^))

Awkward? Uncomfortable? Yugi wasn't quite sure what to think of that. Well . . . it might be for /him/, but he doubted she felt the same way he did, so it wouldn't be for, likely. Well . . . unless she thought he was going to be her boss or something. Right. "Well . . . we'd be coworkers, so I don't think it'd be awkward. Grandpa would be the boss - we'd still be on equal footing. Well," he added with a sheepish grin, joking, "except for the part where I have to stand on a stool to be seen over the sales counter and you wouldn't have to, but hey, besides that." He gave her a grin. "I think it'd be great! Well . . . it'll be kinda boring, actually, more often than not, but having company to pass the time with will help a lot, I think."

((ooc: Ah, gotcha! Don't worry, you don't have to be like that with me. :D))

Anzu smiled at Yuugi; honestly, he could be so hard to read at times, and not just because of his other self; one minute she could see in his eyes a passion that he didn't share with anyone else, and sometimes it seemed like all he wanted from her was her friendship. Not that that, as she was ready to tell anyone in need of a good pep speech, was a bad thing at all. Still..."I suppose you have a point there Yuugi; plus, it'll be nice to be able to talk like this more often. Lately it seems like we only really connect during some crisis." Anzu sighed, a certain sense of relief as the events of the past week receded further back into the past.

"Just so I know, is there any store policy I should be worried about? Dress codes or the like?"

((ooc: =3;;;))

'Lately it seems like we only really connect during some crisis.' Yugi's gaze dropped away for a moment. Right, like when some soul-crushing cardshark is after Other-Me, or a chauvinistic pig is making a sex-symbol display of one of your best friends and the girl you've had a crush on since, like, forever. Way to go, Yugi. Within their heart, he felt his other self frown at that, but Yami kept his opinions to himself for the moment. Just as well, probably. They could talk about it more later if he wanted, when Yugi's attention didn't need to be outward just then.

Yugi tilted his head at the question. "Um . . . not that I can think of." Nothing like the last place, that's for sure! Though Grandpa might make occasional comments. He decided none of that needed to be spoken aloud. "Grandpa's actually really easy to work for. Just be there when you've said you would be, and if he's asked that something be done like new merchandise stocked on the shelves, then it really should be done . . . but that's just the kinds of things to be expected. Otherwise, it's really lax."

"Okay, that's good to know." Anzu then smiled wryly. "Well Yugi, looks like we're going to be entering a new stage in our relationship. Hope you're ready for it!"

((OOC: I think this RP scenario is just about concluded here; now we need to come up with one where its Yugi being humiliated! Fair's fair, I always say.))

Yugi felt his cheeks flame at that and could only be sorry that she didn't mean that the way he wished she did. But still, her friendship was more important to him than whether she could ever like him the same way, so he pushed the feelings aside and nodded with a big grin. "Yup!"

((OOC: \o/ This has been fun! And definitely fair's fair! LOL Um...........iono. Grandpa's making Yugi wear a character costume to help sell a new line or a new release of some game? Something ridiculous. OH! /Or/ it's a Dark Magician costume . . . only it's notably too big for him, and he's really WAY too short to pull it off anyway even if the costume /did/ fit....not to mention it brings up memories. Not necessarily /bad/ so much as the "WHAT I'LL SHOW YOU 'LITTLE' YUGI!" rant. XD;;;))

((OOC: The Dark Magician costume idea has merit...yes, it'll be like the anime version of how everyone met Yami Bakura and how everyone was made into their favorite cards...Yuugi will be very conflicted about whether or not he'd like Anzu's favorite to change to the Dark Magician Girl. That's what I think anyway. You'll be sure to post the link into this thread, right?))
